Pre-Class Homework

From the light fabric, cut one piece 22” X 38” with the 22” side being on the lengthwise grain.  This is the top.  Cut one piece 32” X 44” for the backing (this should be approximately what remains after cutting the top.   The backing needs to be larger than the top to give extra space for handling the quilt while quilting.

From the dark fabric, cut 3 strips 2 1/4” X width of fabric.  Set these aside for binding.

Cut a 3” strip and add a 2 1/2” wide strip of paper-backed fusible to the strip.  Cut a 2” strip from the fused strip.  Cut eight 2” fused squares from the strip.

Bring the 2” fused squares to class.

Cut a piece of batting 32” X 44”(matching the size of the backing).

Assemble the quilt sandwich centering the top on the batting and backing.

Spray baste using the 505 spray.  NOTE:  If you have never done spray basting, please GOOGLE “Basting spray for quilting tutorial”. Choose the blog and view their tutorial.  Do not wait until class to do this.
