Pre- Class Work

You will be making quilting sandwiches (backing/batting/top fabric) fashioned from light colored solid cotton fabric and low loft cotton or cotton/poly blend batting.

 1)  Cut the 1 1/2 yard piece of light solid fabric into 3 half-yard pieces (18” x width of fabric).  Cut each half-yard piece in two by cutting on the fold.

You should have six pieces approximately 18” x 22”.  Cut three batting pieces approximately 3” larger on all sides than fabrics (24” x 28”).

 2) Make three quilt sandwiches with the 6 pieces of fabric and 3 batting pieces.  Spray baste the layers together with the 505 spray (center the top and backing on the batting).  If you have not used basting spray before, please Google “Basting Spray for Quilting Tutorial”.  Choose the blog and view their tutorial.
