Thread Sketching with Linda V. Hubbard

Explore beginning free motion stitch embellishments for quilt, craft, pillow and purse projects.

This workshop covers machine settings and maintenance required for Free Motion stitching, builds confidence in ability to improvise, develops skills in thread sketching and dimensional stitching and explores free style stitch design. 

Supply List:

Sewing machine in good working order, with accessories and knee lift if you have one.

Basic sewing tools, including rotary cutter, seam ripper, quilting gloves if you use them, black fine point Sharpie, pen and paper.

 Thread:assortment of colors and weights, including black, white and variegated. 60 Weight bobbin thread , light grey or black preferred (pre-wind please).

Fabric: 1/4 yard each muslin (the top), cotton flannel (for batting), Pellon 40 interfacing (the backing) sandwiched and cut into 8" by 10" "canvases" ready for stitching. Make one larger (up to 12" by 12" for final project).

Additional Supply fee of $5 payable to instructor.

Linda V. Hubbard, a local Benicia resident has been a member of Arts Benicia for many years as well as Fairfield's FSVAA and the Vacaville Art League and Gallery. She experiments with Raw Edge Applique, Rust Dyeing, Screen Printing, Stamping and Discharge Dying. Linda feels thread sketching, painting, and dimensional stitching bring depth, dimension and texture to her work.
