This situation will be the most difficult to handle. As you know, we here at The Sewing Machine Shop pride ourselves on providing a high level of customer service and immediate help for your machine whenever we are able. This typically means working with you side-by-side to determine the problem and trying to take care of it while you wait. Some examples would be a needle inserted in the wrong direction, the thread not in the take-up lever, the wrong bobbin, and many such problems we encounter and help you with every day.
Now with the new “Social Distancing” of 6 feet apart we are unable to provide that level of service while still keeping not only our staff safe but also you, our customers. We are still committed to trying to help you but unfortunately, you will have to leave your machine with us.
We recommend you follow our guidelines for machine Repair or Service. When you call in you will have an opportunity to describe to our staff member what is wrong or what help you need. If the staff member determines that you might have a minor problem that can be fixed quickly they will provide you with all the help they can over the phone.
If they cannot help you over the phone then they will provide you with a Repair or Service appointment. This will merely be a time when you can drop off your machine using our CURBSIDE procedure. We will take the machine into the store and determine if we can quickly solve the problem or if we will need to keep the machine. If we do not need to keep the machine then we can then call you back and arrange a time for you to pick up the machine. We will also advise you if you need any parts, such as bobbins, needles, etc. because we may have found that the wrong parts were causing your problem. In any case, if you require something we will ask you for credit card payment in advance of your scheduled time to pick up.
We know this is not ideal but hope that between trying to help you by phone, email, or appointment we will get you back to your sewing, embroidery, or quilting as quickly as possible.

Please remember that while we will be open for business during regular business hours, (9 am-5 pm Tuesday-Saturday), as mandated by Contra Costa County we will have our doors closed. Customers will be allowed in the store in limited numbers.
